“I found Medicine with Heart when I was searching for a practice that would be able to help me heal from the unfortunate health effects of years of toxic mold exposure. Few doctors are knowledgeable about mold illness, so I was happy to find practitioners that had experience dealing with this very specific issue. But in addition to having expertise with various mold detoxing protocols, Dr. Miles uncovered health problems that I didn’t know I had (an issue with how my body processes iron, for example, as well as imbalances in my gut microbiome). Within a few months, I went from barely being able to function (because of such extreme fatigue) to feeling energized enough to hike several challenging trails per week. I also really appreciated the online patient portal they utilize, which really streamlines communications, appointment notes, supplements, billing, etc. From day one, Andrea at the front desk was so friendly, helpful and impeccably detail oriented and every visit was always a pleasant experience. Also, since I am a bit of a know-it-all who has been fairly obsessed with health, diet and general wellness most of my life, I really wasn’t sure whether the health coach, Michelle would have that much to offer me, but I was immediately proven wrong about that in our first session. She is extremely knowledgable about mold, general immunity, diet, fitness, supplements and pretty much all things health related. “Working with Dr. Miles and the team at Medicine with Heart was the best medical decision I ever made.I have had respiratory problems since childhood, with doctor’s house calls to give me a shot of epinephrine to control my asthma. I also had lots of nasal congestion, phlegm, allergies, and respiratory infections. I weighed between 190 and 210 from 1980 until 2019. At 5’ 9”, that was overweight bordering on obese for 40 years.Mix sarcoidosis of the lungs in ’88, which went into permanent remission after prednisone steroid therapy, and a gall bladder removal in 1996 due to gall stones.By 2009, all these issues and their related complications had taken their toll to the point where I was diagnosed with CPD. For ten years, I took a daily dose of Symbicort steroid to control my asthma, and when it still flared up, I needed an emergency asthma inhaler. In addition, I regularly suffered from severe colds, some so bad they required emergency visits to the doctor, and more prednisone.Joint problems were starting, knees, a hip, a shoulder, and then my right hand. YUK.In January 2019, I made a change and began working with Dr. Miles. My treatment plan included strict dietary changes, supplements dosed from an analysis of my blood work, and a round of “binders” to remove toxins that had built up. And I practiced the recommended mindfulness techniques.The regime paid off quickly. By May I was down below 170, and I have stayed in the mid-160’s ever since.I weaned myself down from Symbicort over the winter and stopped steroids completely at the end of April, 2019. I have been steroid free AND asthma free since then, never requiring even the emergency inhaler.For the last two years, I have been cold free, with even my hay fever/allergies reduced to the “seldom” category. My joint and body pains have disappeared.Miles has given me a body with very little pain, no illnesses, and no drugs. In other words, a healthy life, and I love it every day, all day.THANKS!”
